If you run the free version of the popular temporary file cleaner and system tool CCleaner for Windows, you may have noticed that it has started to display advertising popups on the system.

I noticed the behavior after installing CCleaner 5.44 on a Windows 10 Pro system; it is possible, however, that older versions of CCleaner display the advertisement as well.
The advertisement appears as a popup message in the lower right corner of the screen. It highlights a Summer Sale and a discount for CCleaner Professional.
You can upgrade to the professional version of CCleaner for 50% off.
It reads:
Summer Sale: Get 50% off!
Treat your computer to automatic cleaning for a stress-free summer
The offer ends on July 7.
Note that the popup is displayed when you run the portable version or the version that gets installed on the system.
The popup message disappears after a few seconds but you can open the upgrade option in the CCleaner interface to display the offer again.
There you may notice that the 50% may not have been accurate. On my system, it displayed a discount of €10 from €24.95 to €14.95 which is less than 50%.
The reason why there is a discrepancy is that a click on the 'upgrade & save' button opens a page on the CCleaner website. There you find the offer for €12.49 instead of $14.95.
It is rather strange that Piriform/Avast would display two different upgrade offers to users of the program. You can open the Summer Sale page directly here.
How To Disable Ccleaner Notifications Iphone
Starcraft 2 push to talk key. CCleaner Professional adds features such as priority customer support, automatic cleaning, and additional cleaning options to the application.
There is no option in the program to disable the advertising popup. In fact, there is no option at all to prevent this kind of behavior.
What you can do is block CCleaner's Internet access. If you disallow the program to connect to the Internet. for example with TinyWall or Windows Firewall Control, it seems that you won't get the advertising popup.
The one downside to this is that you will have to download new versions manually to install them, at least until the July 7 deadline is reached.
There is no telling, however, whether the popup won't be used to advertise other Avast products such as Avast antivirus products.
CCleaner has been in the news recently quite a bit. Avast acquired CCleaner's parent company Piriform in 2017, and servers were compromised in 2017 shortly after the acquisition. The company added privacy options to CCleaner in 2018 which caused initial confusion as well.
Closing Words
I have to admit that I don't mind reminders like the one that CCleaner displays. What I dislike about it is that there is no option to turn it off and that the popup is displayed frequently and not just once or on user request.
Users who dislike the practice may want to check out alternatives such as Bleachbit.
Now You: What is your take on this?

The Game Bar in Windows 10 is a tool designed to help gamers capture video, broadcast their gameplay online, take screenshots, and quickly access the Xbox app. It's an efficient tool, but not everyone needs to use it nor wants it on their PC. Here are a few ways you can disable or remove the Game Bar and some of the features associated with it that might be affecting your PCs performance.
How to disable Game DVR
Game DVR, part of the Game Bar, records video in the background while you game so that you can grab a clip of an epic moment that happened out of the blue. This recording also takes up system resources, so if your rig is already chugging along trying to run an intensive game, you can disable Game DVR without fully disabling the Game Bar.
How to disable Game Bar
If you have a PC with Windows 10 on it and don't plan on doing any sort of gaming at all (or you just don't want to use Game Bar), you can disable the Game Bar completely. This means that nothing will happen when you hit the Windows key + G shortcut on your keyboard or hit the Xbox button on your gamepad.
How to disable Xbox Game Monitoring
Xbox Game Monitoring is a service in Windows 10 that works in conjunction with the Xbox app. It keeps an eye on what game is currently being played on your PC, but some users have reported it clashing with performance when playing games from other services, like Steam. This service runs even if Game Bar is disabled, and you cannot disable this service without editing your registry.
Note that edits to your registry are done at your own risk; keep backups of your PC handy in case something goes wrong.
The Xbox Game Monitoring service will now be disabled. To re-enable it, simply repeat the steps, but change 4 back to 3.

CCleaner bears the reputation of being one of the best Windows junk, temporary file cleaning tool. It helps you free up some space by automatically removing unwanted files generated by Windows programs and other third-party software. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet. While doing so, it however nags you system with one problem – it frequently displays System and Active monitoring alert popups.
UPDATE: The latest CCleaner v 5.47 Portable does away with these popups. Nevertheless you could take a look at these settings:
Usually, CCleaner alert popup appear owing to the active monitoring system feature enabled, which runs silently in the background and displays the Alert messages when the junk files size exceeds 500 MB. This nagging issue can be resolved simply by increasing the default 500MB limit to 2GB or more. But there’s a catch here, the option of changing the limit is only available in CCleaner Professional and CCleaner Professional Plus edition.
Nonetheless, users having CCleaner Free installed and wanting to solve this pestering issue can do so via steps mentioned below in the guide.
Disable CCleaner Alert Popup
First, open the CCleaner window. Once you are there, click the Options icon residing in the left pane of the window and switch to Monitoring tab.
Then, from the right hand side of Monitoring tab, simply uncheck the following 2 options.
The System Monitoring option will monitor your PC and detect whether it will benefit from a clean. Active Monitoring allows CCleaner Free to monitor your installation in the background, for any updates or new releases, so you don’t have to worry about keeping up-to-date.
Ccleaner Popup Ad
Once you uncheck these options, a confirmation dialog box appears on your computer screen. Hit the Yes button.
That’s it! CCleaner will quit bothering you with the Alert popup.
Once you turn off active monitoring system, you will notice not only the CCleaner Alert popup stops appearing at regular intervals but even the CCleaner icon disappears from the system tray area. This should not pose any problem for a user since, one can always manually run CCleaner and scan the system to clean up junk files.
